Best premium credit cards, ranked by credits you can actually use

A premium card is worth its fee only if you use the credits it bundles. We rank by the credits that carry a corroborated dollar amount and no large spend requirement.

Card terms last verified against issuer pages on 2026-09-20.

The short answer

Amex Business Platinum leads on recurring statement credits: $4,819 a year across 11 separate credits, against a $895 annual fee. The ranking below is by credits carrying a corroborated dollar amount and no large spending requirement — not by the totals in the marketing. Whether any of them is worth it depends entirely on whether you would spend at those merchants anyway.

Questions people ask

Are premium credit cards worth the annual fee?

Amex Business Platinum leads on recurring statement credits: $4,819 a year across 11 separate credits, against a $895 annual fee. The ranking below is by credits carrying a corroborated dollar amount and no large spending requirement — not by the totals in the marketing. Whether any of them is worth it depends entirely on whether you would spend at those merchants anyway.

Why not just rank every card together by its multiplier?

Because the multipliers are denominated in different currencies. Seven points per dollar in a hotel programme is routinely worth less than four points per dollar in a transferable currency, and turning both into a percentage needs a valuation of each point — which varies by how you redeem and is a judgement rather than a fact. Grouping by currency family gives a ranking that is true without needing that judgement.

How often do premium bonus rates change?

Often enough that a rate quoted without a date is not worth much. Issuers revise bonus categories at card refreshes and occasionally mid-year. Everything here was last checked on 2026-09-20, and the issuer's own terms page is the authority.

This is a rates comparison, not advice. Which card suits you depends on where you actually spend, whether you carry a balance, and what you will do with the rewards. We publish no APRs and make no recommendation about applying for credit. Verified 2026-09-20.
