How we source this
What we publish, what we hold back, and the specific claims we refuse to make. If you are going to rely on a number here, this page tells you how much weight it can carry.
Card terms last verified against issuer pages on 2026-09-20.
Where the data comes from
Card and benefit records are entered by hand from issuer terms pages and benefit guides, and corrected as issuers change them. Nothing is scraped and nothing is licensed from an aggregator.
That is the site's main advantage and its main risk. The advantage is depth: we hold 235 recurring statement credits with per-cycle caps and reset dates, which is the layer most card coverage summarises away. The risk is that any error in the dataset becomes an error published under our name, so the rules below exist to keep the weakest data off the site entirely.
The publishing gate
Of 196 US cards in the database, 162 are published and 34 are held back. A card is held back when:
- fewer than 2 earn categories — 32 cards
- annual fee but no benefit data — 3 cards
A page with two facts on it still reads as a claim about the card, and search engines and language models repeat it either way. So the threshold is: enough to be worth checking, or nothing.
What counts as a statement credit
This is the most consequential rule on the site, because it is the number people quote. The source database stores four different kinds of thing in one value column: real recurring dollar credits, certificates and lounge access whose value is an estimate, point and mile bonuses where the stored figure is sometimes the point count rather than a dollar amount, and welcome bonuses.
So a benefit counts toward a card's credit total only when its dollar figure is corroborated by the human-written benefit name or description. "$600 Hotel Credit" with a stored value of 600 qualifies. An "Annual Spend Bonus" storing 10,000 — which is ten thousand points, not ten thousand dollars — does not, and would otherwise have published a $10,000 credit on a no-annual-fee card. Everything that fails the test keeps its description and appears under "other perks" with any value clearly marked as an estimate; 333 benefits currently sit there.
Credits gated behind a large annual spending requirement are also excluded from headline totals and flagged individually on the card page. A $2,400 credit that requires $250,000 of annual spending is real, but it is not money most cardholders will see, and averaging it into a total would mislead.
Cards closed to new applicants
A handful of cards in the database are no longer open to new applicants. They keep their pages, because people still hold them and still need the benefit terms, but they are excluded from every "best card" ranking — recommending a card nobody can apply for is not useful. Nothing in the underlying data marks these, so they are identified by the issuer's own "(Legacy)" naming and by an explicit short list. If you find a closed card in a ranking, that list is out of date rather than the ranking being wrong on purpose.
Claims we refuse to make
- No percentage returns. Turning "4x on dining" into "5.6% back" requires putting a price on the rewards currency, and that price is a judgement that varies by how you redeem. We publish the multiplier, which is a fact, and leave the valuation to you.
- No APRs, interest rates or credit-limit guidance. This is a rewards reference. Credit terms are consequential enough that they should be read from the issuer, on the day you apply.
- No fabricated ratings. There are no user ratings here, so the structured data
contains no
aggregateRating. The star in a search result would be invented. - No "best card" claims without a stated basis. Every category ranking names the measure it sorts on and regenerates from the data, so nothing is a hand-kept favour.
Dates, and why they are on everything
Card terms change quietly. The usual failure in this category is a page stating a fee or benefit that changed two card refreshes ago, with nothing on it to tell you when it was written. Every page here carries the date the dataset was last verified: currently 2026-09-20, across 162 cards from 19 issuers, 72 of them with itemised credits.
Where this site and the issuer's terms page disagree, the issuer is right and this site is stale. Please tell me when you find one.
Money
There are no affiliate links anywhere on this site, and no payment is taken for placement or ranking. Nothing here can be bought. If that changes, this page will say so before anything else does.

Checking our work
The whole dataset is published as JSON under CC BY 4.0, including the classification flags described above, so you can compare our tables against an issuer's terms page without scraping anything. llms.txt carries the same figures in prose.
