CardPointers review
The broadest US benefit tracker, on every platform, without ever asking for a bank login.
Card terms last verified against issuer pages on 2026-09-20.
Seven years of steady single-developer iteration have made CardPointers the most complete app in this category for US cardholders. It activates card-linked offers at six issuers, runs on every platform people actually use, tracks 5/24, covers a household on one subscription — and it does all of that without ever asking for your banking credentials.
Weighted by the published rubric. Only benefit trackers are scored.
Never requested, and the vendor treats this as a design principle rather than a limitation: offers are added by the browser extension each time you log in to the bank site yourself, "instead of using and storing your bank logins as that would put you at risk".
List prices from the vendor's own help centre. CardPointers discounts periodically — 30–50% off promotions are widely reported — so a patient buyer should not pay list.
The database is built US-first. Third-party comparisons describe Canadian coverage as thin and Australian coverage as effectively absent.
Beyond the basics
- Nearby merchant map, including a camera mode that identifies a storefront and names the best card for it.
- Siri integration, and the ability to query your own cards from ChatGPT or Claude.
- Shopping Pointers in the browser extension, for card choice while shopping online.
What it does well
- Runs everywhere — iOS, Android, web, Mac, Apple Watch, Vision and CarPlay, plus extensions for Chrome, Safari and Firefox. Nothing else in this category is close on reach.
- Activates card-linked offers at Amex, Chase, Bank of America, Citi, Wells Fargo and U.S. Bank. If you hold a card at any of the latter four, this is the app that reaches its offers.
- Tracks Chase 5/24 and welcome bonus progress, so people who open cards on a schedule do not need a second app.
- One subscription covers a household.
- The no-credentials architecture is not a gap it apologises for — it is argued for explicitly in its own help centre, and the offer automation is built around it.
Where it loses
- The highest list price in the category: $89.99 a year or $279.99 for lifetime. The value case leans on catching a promotion, which means timing a software purchase like an award flight.
- Coverage is US-first. If any of your cards were issued outside the United States, the database thins out fast.
- English only.
- Credit tracking is manual. It cannot know you used a credit unless you tell it — the direct and deliberate consequence of not reading your transactions.
- The vendor's own figures, reproduced but not verified by us:
- Most members save over $750 per year.
